The Waiting Game - A Letter From Your Doulas
Dear Beautiful Mama,
We see you. We see the waiting, the anticipation, the exhaustion. These last days of pregnancy—sometimes stretching into what feels like endless weeks—are their own kind of journey. A place of in-between. A time of holding your breath, balancing on the edge of something profound. One foot in the life you’ve always known, the other reaching toward the life that is about to unfold.
We know how hard this waiting can be. The discomfort, the sleepless nights, the wondering when your baby will decide it’s time. The excitement mixed with impatience, the longing mixed with uncertainty. Every cramp, every tightening, every change in energy makes you wonder—is this it? And yet, the morning comes again, and you find yourself still waiting. Still pregnant.
But here’s what we want you to know: this time is not empty. It may feel endless now, but this waiting has a purpose. You are standing in the sacred space between who you were and who you are becoming. Pregnancy has already transformed you, and birth will transform you again. This in-between time is part of that unfolding. Each cramp and contraction pattern that tapers off is doing important work. It might not feel that way, but we promise it is.
Your baby is waiting, too. They are listening to your voice, moving with your breath, preparing—just as you are. And when the moment arrives, when both of you are genuinely ready, labor will come. Not a moment too soon, not a moment too late.
So we encourage you, as difficult as it may be, to surrender to and embrace this waiting period. Trust your body. Trust your baby. Trust that everything is happening exactly as it should.
Take these last moments to rest, nourish yourself, and sink into the beauty of now. Allow your body to do what it was made to do. And know that soon—so very soon—you will hold your baby in your arms, and all of this waiting will make sense.
You are doing beautifully. You are already enough. And you are so incredibly close.
With love and unwavering support,
Your Doulas
